NESC@50

NESC@50 provided an opportunity to look back at the impact of the Council – to celebrate its achievements, and the impact it has had on Irish society and the policy making system over the last 50 years. It was also an opportunity to look forward, and to consider how the Council can continue to find solutions to complex and challenging economic, social, and environmental issues.

To mark our anniversary the Council will publish a book capturing the voices and ideas of over 40 people who participated in a major conference at Dublin Castle in November 2023. It highlights the strengths and resilience of the Irish economy, people, and our natural environment – but also the challenges which must be addressed and acted upon. The book will also highlight a reflection by the Council on the key lessons for Ireland at what is a pivotal moment.

It is expected that the book will be published in the coming months.
