Launch of NESC@50 Commemorative Book

NESC@50 provided an opportunity to look back at the impact of the Council – to celebrate its achievements, and the impact it has had on Irish society and the policy making system over the last 5 decades. It was also an opportunity to look forward, and to consider how the Council can continue to find solutions to complex and challenging economic, social, and environmental issues.

A major 50th anniversary conference was held in Dublin Castle in November 2023, and today we are launching a book capturing the voices and ideas of over 40 people who helped contribute to it. This book highlights the strengths and resilience of the Irish economy, people, and our natural environment – but also the challenges which must be addressed and acted upon. It also features a reflection by the Council on the key lessons for Ireland at what is a pivotal moment.
